Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Place transmission and transfer gears (1) on suitable blocks, as shown. The weight of transmission and transfer gears (1) is approximately 2200 kg (4850 lb).

Remove yoke assembly (3) from input transfer gears (2).
Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to input transfer gears (2). The weight of input transfer gears (2) is approximately 160 kg (353 lb). Remove bolts (4) and input transfer gears (2).

Remove O-ring seals (5) from input transfer gears (2).

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to transmission (6). The weight of transmission (6) is approximately 1100 kg (2425 lb).
Remove bolts (7). Remove transmission (6) from output transfer gears (8).

Remove O-ring seals (9) from transmission (6).
Place transmission (6) on a suitable transmission stand.
