START BY:a) remove implement pump **This operation is in the Vehicle Systems Disassembly And Assembly section. Engine removed for better photo illustration of removal and installation of the pump drive. 1. Do not loosen the nut that holds the pump drive together unless the pump drive is to be disassembled. Bend the lock off of the nut that holds the pump drive together and loosen the nut with tool (A) but do not remove it. 2. Remove brackets (1) and (2) and the bolts that hold adapter (3) to the flywheel housing. 3. Install tooling (B) and a hoist on the pump drive.4. Use two 3/8" NC forcing screws (4) and remove pump drive from the flywheel housing. Weight of the pump drive is 30 kg (67 lb.).Install Pump Drive (Implement)
1. Inspect seal (1) for damage and make a replacement if necessary. Put clean engine oil on both the seal and in the bore of the flywheel housing.2. Install seal (1) on pump drive and pump drive (2) in the flywheel housing.3. Install tooling (A) in adapter and fasten a hoist to the pump drive.4. Put the pump drive in position in the flywheel housing. 5. Install brackets (3) and (4) and pump drive in position. Steps 6 and 7 are not needed if pump drive was not disassembled.6. Tighten the nut to a torque of 407 68 N m (300 50 lb.ft.) with tool (B).7. Make an alignment of the notch in the nut with the tab of the lock. START BY:a) remove pump drive (implement) 1. Remove nut (1) and lock (2). The nut was loosened in the removal story for disassembly. 2. Use a press and tool (A) to remove the gear from adapter (3).3. Remove the bearing cone from adapter (3).
Typical Example4. Remove spacer (4) and bearing cone (5) from gear (6). The bearing will have damage after removal. Use new parts for replacement. 5. Remove bolts (7) and retainer (9) from adapter (3).6. Remove bearing cup (8) from adapter (3).Assemble Pump Drive (Implement)
1. Heat bearing cone (2) to a maximum temperature of 135°C (275°F). Install the bearing cone on gear (3) as shown.2. Install spacer (1) on gear (3). 3. Use a press and install the bearing cup in adapter (5).4. Install retainer (4) and the bolts on adapter (5). 5. Put adapter (5) in position on gear (3).6. Put the bearing cone in position on gear (3).7. Use a press and tool (A) to install the bearing cone on gear (3). 8. Install a new lock and nut (6) on the gear.
