Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Remove".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Remove bolts (4). Remove bolts (2) from flange (5). Remove elbow (1) from exhaust manifold assembly (3).
Remove the O-ring seals from elbow (1). Remove gasket (6) from exhaust manifold assembly (3).

Remove the locknuts and spacers from taperlock studs (7). Remove exhaust manifold assembly (3) from the cylinder head.
Remove coupling (8) from the exhaust manifold assembly. Remove the O-ring seals from the coupling.
Remove exhaust manifold gaskets (10) from the cylinder head.
If necessary, remove taperlock studs (9) from exhaust manifold assembly (3). Installation Procedure

If necessary, install taperlock studs (9) in exhaust manifold assembly (3) and tighten to a torque of 35 5 N m (26 4 lb ft).
Install exhaust manifold gaskets (10) on taperlock studs (7).
Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of taperlock studs (7).
Install the O-ring seals on coupling (8). Apply Tooling (B) to the O-ring seals. Install coupling (8) in the exhaust manifold assembly. Note: Discard the locknuts after use. Use new locknuts for installation.
Install exhaust manifold assembly (3) in position on taperlock studs (9). Install the spacers and locknuts finger tight.

Tightening sequence
Tighten the locknuts for the taperlock studs in a numeric sequence to a torque of 50 5 N m (37 4 lb ft).

Install the O-ring seals on elbow (1).
Position gasket (6), elbow (1), and flange (5) on exhaust manifold assembly (3).
Install bolts (2) and bolts (4). End By:
Install the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Install".
