Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Raise the engine hood.

Remove panel (1) .

Use knob (4) to drain the fuel into a suitable container for storage or disposal.
Disconnect harness assembly (5) .
Disconnect hose (6) and hose assemblies (7) .
Remove bowl assembly (9) .
Use Tooling (A) to remove primary fuel filter (8) .
Remove bolts (2) and fuel priming pump (3) .Installation Procedure

Position fuel priming pump (3) and install bolts (2) .
Use Tooling (A) to install primary fuel filter (8) .
Install bowl assembly (9) .
Connect hose (6) and hose assemblies (7) .
Connect harness assembly (5) .
Make sure that knob (4) is in the CLOSED position.
