ECM shows diagnostic information in the following ways:
On the Caterpillar® monitoring system display
On the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat® ET) service toolCat® ET) can be used to perform several diagnostic and programming functions.The following list contains some of the diagnostic and programming functions that are performed by the service tool.
The diagnostic codes are displayed.
Input and the output status are displayed.
ECM settings are displayed.
Input and the output status parameters are displayed in real time.
Internal diagnostic clock values are displayed.
Number of occurrences for each logged diagnostic code are displayed.
Clock hour of the first and the last occurrence are displayed.
Logged diagnostic code and event definitions are displayed.

Troubleshooting, "Using Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to Determine Diagnostic Codes"When the AWD ECM detects an event code, the operator is notified by the Caterpillar monitoring system. A warning of a category 1 or a category 2 is set.The following indicators will become active:
The AWD lamp will illuminate.
The action lamp will flash if the warning is a Level 2.The AWD automatically disengages when a diagnostic code occurs. However, if a diagnostic code is on a speed sensor, the AWD will remain functional. The following diagnostic codes will not disable AWD, but the following diagnostic codes will disable the Stability Control feature.
CID 2321 FMI 2 Right Motor Speed Sensor 1 Incorrect
CID 2322 FMI 2 Right Motor Speed Sensor 2 Incorrect
CID 2319 FMI 2 Left Motor Speed Sensor 1 Incorrect
CID 2320 FMI 2 Left Motor Speed Sensor 2 Incorrect The following diagnostic codes will be active when there is a failure in communication on the Implement ECM 2. The following diagnostic codes will not disable AWD, but the following diagnostic codes will disable the Stability Control feature.
