LEVER GP-HAND CONTROL 2868831 - Caterpillar

Thoroughly clean all of the parts of the travel counterbalance valve prior to assembly. Check the condition of all of the parts. If any of the parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.
Use the following procedure to assemble the crossover relief valves (8) .

Install seat (18), spring (11), spring (19), valve group (12), and piston (20) in valve body (10), as shown.Note: After adjustment of crossover relief valves (8), nut (24) should be tightened to a torque of 130 13 N m (95 10 lb ft).
Install backup ring (14), backup ring (13), O-ring seal (21), stopper (22), backup ring (23), O-ring seal (15), screw (16), and nut (24) .
Install two backup rings (17) and O-ring seal (9) on valve body (10) .

Apply 1U-6396 O-Ring Assembly Compound on the backup rings and O-ring seals of crossover relief valves (8). Install crossover relief valves (8) in the valve's original location in the valve body. Tighten the crossover relief valves to a torque of 540 50 N m (400 37 lb ft).
Install two check valves (6) in the valve body. Install the O-ring seal on the plug for each check valve. Install the valves, the spring and the plugs in the valve body. Tighten each of the plugs to a torque of 31 3 N m (23 2 lb ft).
Apply clean hydraulic oil on all of the internal parts of the counterbalance valve. Install spool assembly (7) in the valve body. Install washers (4) and springs (3) in the valve body. Install O-ring seals (5) in the valve body.Note: To compress springs (3) during the installation of covers (2), longer cover mounting bolts may be temporarily used.
Temporarily install cover (2) with two longer cover mounting bolts. Tighten the two bolts evenly until the spring is compressed and the cover is against the valve body. Install two original cover mounting bolts (1) in order to secure the cover. Replace the temporary bolts with the original cover mounting bolts. Tighten cover mounting bolts (1) to a torque of 80 8 N m (60 6 lb ft).
Repeat Step 6 in order to install the cover on the opposite side of the travel brake valve.Note: After the installation of the travel counterbalance valve, crossover relief valves (8) should be adjusted. Refer to Testing and Adjusting for the correct procedure for adjusting the valves.End By: Install the travel counterbalance valve. Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Prior to installation, lubricate all seals with clean oil.
