Inspect
Open the engine access door on the right side of the machine. Note: Even if only one belt is worn or damaged, replace the belts in sets.
Inspect the condition of the fan drive belt, the alternator and water pump belt, and the air conditioning compressor belt. The belts should deflect 14 to 20 mm (.56 to .81 inch) under 110 N (25 lb) of force. Use a 144-0235 Belt Tension Gauge in order to measure the tension.Adjust/Replace

Alternator and fan drive
Loosen bolts (1) .
Loosen adjusting nut (2). To achieve the correct belt adjustment, move the alternator inward or move the alternator outward, as required. Tighten adjusting nut (2) .
Tighten bolts (1) .

Air conditioning compressor belt
Loosen bolts (1) .
Turn adjusting nuts (2) until the correct belt tension is reached. To achieve the correct belt adjustment, move the compressor inward or move the compressor outward, as required.
Tighten bolts (1) .
Close the access door.Note: Use the same procedure in order to replace the belts.Note: If new belts are installed, check the belt adjustment again after 30 minutes of engine operation.
