Procedure for Changing the Engine Oil and Filter
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Your machine is equipped with a high-speed arrangement for changing the engine oil. The high-speed arrangement allows the engine oil to be changed faster than the conventional method.

(1) High-speed engine oil change fitting
Open the engine access door on the left-hand side of the machine. High-speed engine oil change fitting (1) is located in the upper rear corner of the engine access opening.
Remove the cap that protects the high-speed engine oil change fitting and connect an oil pump to the fitting. Turn on the oil pump and withdraw the engine oil.
Turn off the oil pump, and remove the oil pump connection from the high-speed engine oil change fitting.
Clean the high-speed oil change fitting and connect an oil pump to the fitting. Fill the crankcase with oil.Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" for the proper amount of oil.
Remove the oil pump from the high-speed oil change fitting and clean the fitting.
Clean the cap that covers the high-speed oil change fitting and install the cap.
Close the engine access door on the left-hand side of the machine.

Open the engine access doors on the right-hand side of the machine. If preferred, the engine access doors may be removed.Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Access Door - Open/Close" for information about the engine access doors on this machine.
Use a strap type wrench to remove engine oil filter (3). Dispose of the used filter properly.
Clean the filter mounting base. Make sure that the used gasket is removed completely.

Apply a thin film of clean engine oil to the seal on the new filter element. Install a new engine oil filter hand tight until the seal of the engine oil filter contacts the base. Note the position of the index marks on the filter in relation to a fixed point on the filter base.Note: There are rotation index marks on the engine oil filter that are spaced 90 degrees or 1/4 of a turn away from each other. When you tighten the engine oil filter, use the rotation index marks as a guide.
Tighten the filter according to the instructions that are printed on the filter. Use the index marks as a guide. For non-Cat filters, use the instructions that are provided with the filter.Note: You may need to use a Cat strap type wrench, or another suitable tool, to turn the filter to the amount that is
