17. Remove retaining ring (21), retainer (22), spring (23) and spring (24) from spool (20). Spool (20) and spool (25) are located in the same bore of valve (11). Spool (25) must be removed from the end opposite spool (20).
There is spring force against pin (26) and spool (25). When pin (26) is removed, the spring force will be released. To prevent flying parts and possible personal injury, be sure to follow the procedure in Step 18a through 18f.
18. Remove spool (25) from valve (11) as follows:a. Turn valve (11) over. Position valve (11) on wood blocks as shown.b. Use a punch to drive pin (26) into valve (11) until pin (26) is clear of spool (25). Do NOT remove the punch at this time.c. Use a screwdriver to slightly depress spool (25).d. Remove the punch from the hole for pin (26).e. Slowly remove the screwdriver depressing spool (25). This will relieve the spring force against spool (25).f. Remove spool (25) from valve (11). 19. Remove spring (27) from valve (11).20. Remove slug (28) from spool (25). 21. Reposition valve (11) on a bench as shown.22. Remove piston (29) from valve (11).23. Remove spacers (30) from the inside diameter of piston (29).24. Remove spring (31) and (32) from valve (11).
When removing spool (33), use a punch or screwdriver to keep the outside diameters of the spool aligned with the bore of the valve (11). Avoid damaging or scratching the highly finished surfaces of spool (33) and the bore of valve (11).
25. Remove spool (33) from valve (11).26. Remove slug (34) from spool (33).
There is a spring force against retaining ring (38). When retaining ring (38) is removed, the spring force will be released. Release the compression of the spring slowly. Sudden release of the spring could result in personal injury.
27. Remove retaining ring (38), retainer (37), spring (36) and ball (35) from spool (33). 28. Remove stop (39) and spool (40) from valve (11).
There is a spring force against retaining ring (41). When retaining ring (41) is removed, the spring force will be released. To prevent possible personal injury, support retainers (42) and spring (43) while removing retaining ring (41).
29. Remove retaining ring (41), two retainers (42) and spring (43) from spool (40). 30. Remove plate (12) from valve (44).31. Remove two plugs (45) from plate (12). Check the condition of the O-ring seal on each plug (45). Replace the O-ring seals if needed. 32. Remove the bolts and cover (46) from valve (44). Check the condition of O-ring seals (47) located beneath cover (46). Replace O-ring seal (47) if needed.33. Remove stop (48) from valve (44).34. Remove spool (52) from valve (44).
There is spring force against retaining ring (49). When retaining ring (49) is removed, the spring force will be released. To prevent possible personal injury, support retainers (50) and spring (51) while removing retaining ring (49).
