Information:

The air shutoff must operate properly in case an emergency shutdown is needed. Test the operation of the air shutoff. The engine is not required to be operating in order to test the shutoff manually.

(2) Position indicator
To activate the air shutoff, pull knob (1). The required force for pulling the knob is from 316 N (71 lb) to 414 N (93 lb). A plate that is inside of the apparatus will cover the air inlet. This plate prevents air from entering the inlet manifold.Position indicator (2) should move to the "CLOSED" position. If this movement fails to occur, investigate the problem. See the Service Manual, "Disassembly and Assembly" topic.DO NOT operate the engine if the air shutoff will not activate.Note: The air shutoff must be reset before the engine can be started.
To reset the air shutoff, place a wrench on the hex. Turn the position indicator in the direction of the arrow to the OPEN position.
