Removal Procedure
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Thoroughly clean the exterior of the component before the disassembly procedure. Cleaning will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Personal injury can result from hot coolant, steam and alkali.At operating temperature, engine coolant is hot and under pressure. The radiator and all lines to heaters or the engine contain hot coolant or steam. Any contact can cause severe burns.Remove filler cap slowly to relieve pressure only when engine is stopped and radiator cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Cooling System Conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Raise the engine hood.
Drain the cooling system coolant into a suitable container for storage or disposal to a level lower than the water temperature regulator. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities".

Disconnect hose (1) .

Remove bolts (2) and water temperature regulator housing (3) .Note: Note the orientation of the water temperature regulator housing on the cylinder head.
Remove O-ring seal (4) from water temperature regulator housing (3). Installation Procedure
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Thoroughly clean all parts with cleaning fluid before assembly. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Install a new O-ring seal (4) on water temperature regulator housing (3) Install water temperature regulator housing (3) on the cylinder head.Note: Note the orientation of the water temperature regulator housing on the cylinder head.
Install bolts (2). Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 44 N m (32 lb ft).

Connect hose (1) .
Refill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities".
Close the engine hood.
