This diagnostic code is associated with the "Travel Right Forward" solenoid. The FMI 05 diagnostic code means that the Machine ECM determined that the current is below normal.The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed below:
The solenoid energizer circuit is open.
The return circuit of the solenoid is open.
The "Backup EPR Valve" switch has failed.
The solenoid has failed.
The Machine ECM has failed. A failure of the Machine ECM is unlikely. When this diagnostic code occurs, a warning is displayed on the Monitoring System. The Machine ECM disables the circuit. Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear these diagnostic codes when the original diagnostic code is corrected. Test Step 1. CHECK THE SOLENOID.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position. DO NOT start the engine.
Disconnect the suspect solenoid from the machine harness.
At the machine harness connector for the solenoid, place a jumper between contact 1 (wire K947-YL(Yellow)) and contact 2 (wire K952-BR(Brown)).
Observe the monitor. Expected Result:The diagnostic code alternates between the active status and the inactive status as the jumper is installed and the jumper is removed. The Monitoring System may take several seconds before the diagnostic information is updated. The diagnostic information may also be viewed with the ET. Results:
YES - The diagnostic code alternates between the active status and the inactive status as the jumper is installed and the jumper is removed. The circuit is correct.Repair: Replace the solenoid.STOP
NO - The diagnostic code remains. The harness or the Machine ECM has failed. Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE "BACKUP EPR VALVE" SWITCH AND THE RETURN CIRCUIT.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Remove the jumper that was placed in the previous test.
Disconnect the machine harness connector J2 from the Machine ECM and the machine harness from the "Right Travel Forward" solenoid.
Use the Electronic System Schematic to locate the "Backup EPR Valve" switch.
Place the "Backup EPR Valve" switch in the AUTO position.
At the machine harness connector, measure the resistance from contact J2-35 (wire K952-BR(Brown)) to the connector contact 2 of the solenoid (wire K952-BR(Brown)). Expected Result:The resistance measures less than 5 ohms. Results:
OK - The resistance is less than 5.0 ohms. The machine harness and the "Backup EPR Valve" switch are correct. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - The resistance is greater than 5.0 ohms. There is an open circuit in the machine harness or the "Backup EPR Valve" switch has failed. Proceed to Test Step 6.Test Step 3. CHECK THE FUNCTION OF THE BACKUP RESISTOR
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect wire K909-BU(Blue) at pin 1 and wire K948-GY(Grey) at pin 2 from the "Backup Travel Right-Hand Resistor".
At connector pin 1 and connector pin 2 of the resistor, check the resistance. Expected Result:The resistance should be less than 20 ohms.Results:
