Information:
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detected the activation of the diagnostic reset switch. System Response:If the condition that caused the code is no longer present, the ECM will clear all diagnostic codes and event codes. Any engine derate or any engine shutdown event that has been latched will also be cleared. The electrical power to the ECM does not need to be cycled in order to reset a latched condition.Test Step 1. Check that the Diagnostic Reset Switch has been Toggled
Talk to the operator. Ensure that the diagnostic reset switch had been toggled by the operator.
Use Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to check for any diagnostic codes or event codes that remain active. Expected Result:The operator toggled the diagnostic reset switch. Results:
OK - The diagnostic reset switch has been toggled.Repair: If the diagnostic reset switch has been toggled, the system is operating properly. Investigate any engine derate or any engine shutdown event that had been latched prior to the reset function. Make the necessary repairs prior to returning the engine to service.STOP
Not OK - The diagnostic reset switch has not been toggled.Repair: If the diagnostic reset switch has not been toggled, there may be a problem with the circuit for the diagnostic reset switch. Troubleshoot the circuit and/or the switch. Verify the proper operation of the switch prior to returning the engine to service.STOP
