Required Tools
13 mm Wrench 1
Protractor 1
Loosen the four azimuth adjustment bolts on the brackets for the object detection sensors.
Use a protractor in order to set the proper azimuth angle or adjust the angle to fine-tune the system. Refer to the angles listed in Table 3.
Carefully tighten the four azimuth adjustment bolts on the brackets for the object detection sensors.
Check the angle again in order to verify that the bracket is set to the proper angle.
Tighten the bolts.
Check the angle again in order to verify that the bracket is set to the proper angle.
Proceed to the "Elevation Adjustment Procedure".Elevation Adjustment Procedure

Inclinometer or Digital Level 1
Loosen the four adjustment bolts on the bracket for the object detection sensor.
Use an inclinometer or a digital level in order to set the proper elevation angle that is listed in Table 3 or adjust the angle in order to fine-tune the system.
Carefully tighten the four azimuth adjustment bolts on the brackets for the object detection sensors.
Check the angle again in order to verify that the bracket is set to the proper angle.
Tighten the bolts.
Check the angle again in order to verify that the bracket is set to the proper angle.
Perform the Test and Adjust, "Object Detection Sensor - Calibration" procedure that is located within this manual.Generic Object Detection Radar Distance Filtering Calculation
Illustration 3 g06100974
(1) Distance for the radar beam (Y)
(2) Radar angle (a)
(3) Vertical distance from ground (X)
(4) The recommended filter setting is 1 m (3.28 ft) above the groundEnsure the distance for the radar beam (1) is used as the maximum distance filter value in the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET) tool.
Measure the vertical distance of the radar above the ground (3).
Subtract the recommended filter setting (4) from the measured vertical distance (3).
Measure the angle of the radar (2).
Illustration 4 g06101026
List of cosines for angles from 0° to 90°
Refer to Illustration 4 to determine the cosine of the radar angle.
Use the following formula to calculate the distance for the radar beam: Y = (X - 1)/cos(a)
Enter the value calculated in Step 5 as the maximum distance filter value in Cat ET.Radar Right and Left-Side Filtering
The recommendation is to have no side filtering unless the machine will be routinely operated in tight quarters. Side filtering may cause false body detections.
