Component Code(s) 4267SUBJECT: THE PARKING BRAKE MAY BECOME LOOSE
PROBLEM:
There have been reports of the 214-4769 parking brake group becoming loose. This can cause the parking brake to malfunction. The problem has been determined to be paint on the brake group. This paint does not allow the proper torque to be applied to the 6V-8675 bolts.
SOLUTION:
Action has been taken place in order to have the brake group corrected at the supplier. If the 6V-8675 bolts that secure the parking brake group become loose, follow the rework procedures below. See Table 1 for parts that are required for the rework procedures. Also, see Figure 1.

Parts Needed for the Rework Procedure

5P-8245 4 Washer
Prepare the machine for servicing.
Disassemble as needed in order to gain access to the brake group.
Remove the 6V-8675 bolts and the 5P-8245 washers that secure the parking brake group to the cage.
Remove the paint in the area of the bolts and washers.
Install the new 6V-8675 bolts and 5P-8245 washers.
Tighten the bolts to a torque of 120 +/- Nm (90 +/- 15 ft/lb).
