Introduction
This procedure should be performed if the machine will operate in both directions, but only in a single speed. Step 1. Problem TypeIs this an Autoshift, Autokickdown or an manual shift problem? Results:* AUTOSHIFT - Proceed to Step 2.* AUTOKICKDOWN - Proceed to Step 3.* MANUAL SHIFT - Proceed to Step 4. Step 2. Test Autoshift.a. Turn the key start switch to the ON position. Do not start the engine.b. Fully disengage the Parking Brake.c. Press the Autoshift button on the left side of the dash. A LED showing 1F2R or 2F2R will light for the appropriate mode.d. Press the Autoshift button until the LED for 1F2R is lit.e. Move the transmission lever from forward to reverse and back. The gear display will go from 1F to N to 2R to N to 1F.f. Press the Auto shift button until the LED for 2F2R is lit.g. Move the transmission lever from forward to reverse and back. The gear display will go from 2F to N to 2R to N to 2F.h. Press the Autoshift button until no LED's are lit. Expected Result: The Autoshift function operated properly. Results:* OK - Proceed to Step 4.* NOT OK - Check the wiring, connectors, circuit boards and the ECM. STOP. Step 3. Test Autokickdown.a. Turn the key start switch to the ON position. Do not start the engine.b. Fully disengage the parking brake.c. Shift transmission to third gear forward.d. Press the switch in the upper right corner of the dash to turn Autokickdown ON. The AUT LED will light.e. The gear display will show 3F for 2 seconds, then 2F for 2 seconds and then 1F.f. Apply service brake and upshift to third gear forward again. The transmission will not downshift until the service brake is released.g. Release the service brake and the transmission will downshift again.h. Press the Autokickdown button to return the machine to the normal operating mode. Expected Result: The Autokickdown functions properly. Results:* OK - Proceed to Step 4.* NOT OK - Check wiring, connectors, circuit boards and the ECM. STOP. Step 4. Check switches.a. Check the operation of the up shift and down shift switches.b. Repair as required.c. Check operation of machine for original complaint.Reference: Refer to Power Train Electronic Control System, SENR8367, "Transmission Fails To Upshift or Downshift" for additional information. Expected Result: The original complaint is resolved. Results:* OK - STOP.* NOT OK - The cause of the problem is uncertain, please call technical support with the information gathered so far. STOP.
