Problem
There have been reports of Alternator and Air Conditioning V-Belt failures on Affected Products.Earlier machines used a single V-Belt from the crankshaft pulley to the Alternator, and a single V-Belt from the crankshaft pulley to the refrigerant compressor, if equipped with Air Conditioning. Later machines have an idler pulley on both belts, but are still experiencing belt failures.
A previous Service Letter excluded machines equipped with "Low Sound" and "Waste Handler" Attachments because they have a different alternator and belt drive configuration. This Service Letter covers exclusively machines equipped with "Low Sound", "Blue Angel" and "Waste Handler" Attachments, as well as other Special Configurations using same belt drive.
This Update includes the new Drive Group with larger idler pulleys and new belts. A new alternator support bracket is needed to match the new pulley installation.

Use the attached "Procedure for Belt Drive Update" and the Illustrations for detailed instructions needed to perform the update.
Paint new parts as needed to prevent rust. Do not paint surfaces of bolted joints. Avoid excessive paint in pulley grooves.

Special Notes for Belt Drive Update
This Service Letter covers machines equipped with the "Low Sound" (LS), "Blue Angel" (BA) and "Waste Handler" Attachments as they have a different alternator and belt drive configuration, with the alternator located directly above the valve cover (above the crankshaft pulley). LS and BA machines have a sound wall between the engine and the radiator; and have perforated service doors and panels on the side of the hood. Standard machines do not have the sound wall, and have solid service doors and panels. "Low sound" and "Blue Angel" machines have the same machine s/n prefixes as other machines sourced from Belgium, and
