Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the fan and fan drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan and Fan Drive - Remove" in this manual.

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Thoroughly clean the outside of the fan and the fan drive prior to disassembly.

Remove eight bolts (2) and the washers. Remove fan (1) .

Bend over the three locking tabs (3). Remove three bolts (5) and the washers. Remove fan adapter (4) .

Remove fan drive (6) from the fan support with a press.

Use Tool (A) and remove snap ring (7). Remove the shaft and the bearings from the fan drive housing.

Check the condition of seal (8). If the seal is damaged, use a new part for replacement.

Remove ring (9) .

Remove spacer (10) .

Use a press and push shaft (11) through bearing (12), spacer (13), and bearing (14) .
