start by: a) remove cushion hitch hydraulic pump (623 only)1. Let the oil out of the transmission and differential case. Turn the tractor so it is at a right angle to the scraper.2. Disconnect air line (1) for the hold valve for the transmission.3. Disconnect electrical wire (4) from light and remove clamp that holds it to the transmission.4. Disconnect linkage (2) and remove the bolts that hold it to the differential carrier.5. Disconnect two air lines for the valve of the differential lock.6. Disconnect oil lines (3) from transmission.7. Remove eight bolts, bearing cage (5) and shims. Keep the shims flat and clean for installation. Remove drive shaft (6).8. Remove the four bolts that hold the housing (7) to the case for the transfer gears.9. Install a 5/18"-11NC forged eyebolt in the case for the transfer gears.10. Fasten a hoist and tool (A) to the transmission.11. Remove the nuts (8) and washers that hold the transmission and differential.12. Do not remove four bolts (9) that hold the transmission to the differential.

TYPICAL EXAMPLE1. Remove the access cover from the top of the differential case. Loosen lock nut (1) and turn thrust stop (2) on the inside of differential case to give enough clearance for installation of the differential. Put the transmission, transfer gear and differential in position with tool (A) and a hoist. Install the washers and nuts (6) that hold the transmission and differential. Remove tool (A) and the eyebolt.2. Turn thrust stop to give a clearance of .002 .001 in. (0.05 0.03 mm) between thrust stop and bearing cap and tighten locknut. Install the cover on the top of the differential case. Install the four bolts that hold housing (5) to the case for the transfer gears. Install drive shaft (4). If a new gear or new bearings are being installed, it will be necessary to make an adjustment to the end clearance for gear (3).3. Install input gear cage (12) with shims and bolts (11). Measure end clearance with a dial indicator. Add or remove shims to get .008 .002 in. (0.20 0.05 mm) end clearance in gear.4. Connect the oil lines (8) to the transmission. Connect two air lines for valve of the differential lock. Connect linkage (9) and install the bolts that hold it to the differential carrier.5. Connect electrical wire (10) to the light and install the clamp that holds it. Connect air line (7) for transmission hold valve.
