start by: a) remove cushion hitch hydraulic pump (623 only)b) remove transmission, transfer gear and differential as a unitc) separation of transfer gear from transmission1. Remove bolts from three covers (3). Remove filter screens and oil tubes (1). Remove nut (2) and remove oil tube behind it.2. Remove two bolts from scavenge pump. Remove pump (4), inspect O-ring seals (5) and remove coupling (6) from manifold housing.3. Remove bolts (7) from pump cover.4. Make a separation of cover (8), body assembly (9) and cover (10).5. Remove bearings (11) from the covers with tooling (B).6. Remove bolts from governor housing (12). Install two 3/8"-16NC forcing screws and remove shift governor and drive assembly.7. Remove seal (13) from governor shaft and remove governor (15). Remove bolt (14) and idler gear (16) from governor housing.8. Remove governor drive gear (17) from transfer gear housing.9. Remove drive gear bearing with tooling (A).10. Remove bolts from manifold assembly. Install two 3/8"-16NC forcing screws and make a separation of manifold assembly (20) from the dowels. Remove and inspect gasket (18). Remove two bolts and transmission pump (19) from manifold. Remove and inspect O-ring seals from bottom of transmission pump.11. Remove bolts (21) from transmission pump cover.12. Make a separation of cover (22), body assembly (23), and cover (24).13. Remove input gear bearing cup (25) from transfer gear housing with tooling (E).14. Turn transfer gear housing over and remove bolts (26) that hold oil pump drive gear.15. Remove gear (29). Remove bolts (27) from output gear cage (28) and remove cage and shims.16. Remove retaining ring from cage assembly on gear (30). Make a separation of bearing and cage assembly from gear (30) with a hammer and punch. Punch goes through one of the holes (31).17. Remove bearing (32) from cage.18. Remove bearing cup from output gear cage with a hammer and punch.19. Remove output gear assembly (33) from housing.20. Remove bearing cones (34) from gear assembly with tooling (C). Remove bolts (35) to make a separation of gears (36).21. Remove four bolts and shaft (39) that hold idler gear (37). Remove idler gear and special fitted set of bearings (38). Keep bearings together when removing from gear.22. Remove bearing cups (40) from idler gear with a hammer and punch.23. Remove bearing cups (41) from housing with tool (D).Assemble Transfer Gear
1. Install bearing cup for output gear bearing with tooling (A).2. Install bearing cups in idler gear (1) with tooling (C).3. Install bearing cones (2) in idler gear. Install idler gear, shaft (3) and bolts in transfer gear housing.4. Put bearing cage (4) on oil pump drive gear (5). Install bearing assembly with a hammer and punch. Install snap ring that holds bearing. Install pump into housing with four bolts. Tighten bolts finger tight.5. Install bearing cup in output gear cage with tooling (D).6. Connect the output gears with bolts (6). Heat bearing cones (7) to a temperature of 275°F (135°C) and install on gear. Install gear assembly in transfer gear case.7. Install output gear
