Raise the body and install the pins. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Pin (Body Retaining) - Remove and Install".
Remove the front drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive Shaft (Front) - Remove and Install".
Remove the rear drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive Shaft (Rear) - Remove and Install".Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all harness assemblies, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain oil from the transmission planetary and transfer gears. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Transmission Planetary and Transfer Gears - Change".

Disconnect clip (1). Remove bolts (3) and remove guard (2) .

Disconnect harness assembly (4). Disconnect tube assembly (5) .

Disconnect clip (7) and (8). Remove hose assemblies (9). Disconnect hose assemblies (10). Remove guard assembly (11) .

Attach Tooling (A), Tooling (B), and a suitable lifting device to transmission planetary and transfer gears (17). The weight of transmission planetary and transfer gears (17) is approximately 1134 kg (2500 lb).
Use Tooling (A) and Tooling (B) in order to position transmission planetary and transfer gears (17) for removal.

Use Tooling (A) and Tooling (B) in order to rotate transmission planetary and transfer gears (17). Remove transmission planetary and transfer gears (17) .
