Illustration 1 g01092657The alternator is located on the right side of the machine. Caterpillar recommends a scheduled inspection of the alternator. Inspect the alternator for loose connections and for proper battery charging.Keep the batteries fully charged.Air temperature affects the cranking power of the batteries. Keep the batteries warm. The engine will not crank if the batteries are too cold. A warm engine will not crank if the batteries are too cold.When the engine is operated for short periods of time, the batteries may not fully recharge.
