Component Code(s) 3278 7051SUBJECT: Interference between the rear tire and the frame during oscillation of the machine.
PROBLEM: When the rear axle is fully oscillated to one side, there is a possibility that the rear tire may contact the frame.
SOLUTION: If the tire is contacting the frame during full oscillation, the vertical channel assembly must be modified.
Create a template from the dimensions that are shown in Illustration 1.
Lay the template over the vertical channel on the outside of the rear frame such that the ends of the template match the top of the channel with the longer fork toward the front of the machine. Flip the template over for the opposite side of the machine.
Mark the channels by tracing the template.
Air arc off the channel cap and cut the channel along the traced lines. Chamfer the channel to allow for tire clearance.
A plate will need to be manufactured. The dimensions are shown in Illustration 2. The plate can be made from any type of weldable steel.
Weld the manufactured plate over the hole with 8 mm fillet welds. Weld completely around the plate (three sides of the channel and one side to the frame).
