(1) This tool is an alternative Valve Spring CompressorStart By:
Remove the cylinder head. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cylinder Head - Remove".
Remove the gas admission valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gas Admission Valve - Remove".
Remove the prechamber ignition body. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Prechamber Ignition Body - Remove".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Illustration 1 g00572758
Install Tooling (D) and Tooling (B) without the hydraulic cylinder. Move the handle downward to compress the valve spring (1).
Illustration 2 g00572759
Do not remove or install the spring locks with your fingers. If the spring should move, personal injury may result.
Use a magnet to remove the spring locks (2).
Illustration 3 g00572762
Remove the four rotocoil assemblies (3).
Illustration 4 g00572765
Remove the four outer springs (4) and the four inner springs (5).
Inspect the outer valve spring (4) and the inner valve spring (5) for damage.
Illustration 5 g00572766
Remove the valve spring guides (6).
The cylinder head should be turned 180 degrees on Tooling (A). Remove Tooling (B).
Illustration 6 g00572767
Put identification marks on each valve for proper installation.
Remove each valve (7).
Use Tooling (E) to remove the valve seats (8).
Illustration 7 g00572773
Ensure that the tool is up against the bottom of the seat. Hand tighten the nut on the puller to hold the tooling against the bottom of the seat.Note: Replace the valve seat and the valve if the valve seat and the valve are damaged.
Illustration 8 g00572774Note: The hydraulic hose coupling must be down when the cylinder is installed.Note: Be careful not to strike the highly finished surface of the cylinder head with the hammer at any time.
Attach Tooling (C) to the cylinder of Tooling (E). Operate Tooling (C) to move the valve seat (8) out of the cylinder head. Do not allow Tooling (E) to fall as the valve seat (8) leaves the cylinder head.
The cylinder head should be turned 180 degrees on Tooling (A).
Illustration 9 g00572777
Inspect the valve guides (10).
Illustration 10 g00572778
Use Tooling (F) to remove the valve guide (10).
Illustration 11 g00572779Note: Use the hydraulic cylinder only in the position that is shown in Illustration 11.
The hydraulic cylinder is capable of applying more force than the threaded removal tool can withstand. Using this tooling without the safety retainer group in place could result
