March 2001 CHANGE OF REMAN CORE ACCEPTANCE FOR SHORT & LONG BLOCKSAnnouncement
Caterpillar Remanufactured Products is announcing a change to core acceptance guidelines. Effective March 1, 2001, Reman will accept short and long blocks with minor disassembly but the dealer will be assessed an add charge.Current criteria for acceptance of short and long block cores require that they are fully assembled and complete without exception (reference SELD0026 and SELD0029). Disassembled cores are rejected with no core refund. However, occasionally a block core is returned with a connecting rod or main (crankshaft) bearing cap removed, a condition that may not necessitate rejection of the core if all parts are accounted for and there is no handling damage. Reman will now accept cores in this condition to avoid unnecessary rejections back to the dealer.The following changes will be implemented to the core return process:1) For each connecting rod that is disassembled, an add charge will be applied equal to the replacement value of an equivalent new con rod assembly for that engine model (year 2001 pricing):
