Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant from the expansion tank into a suitable container for storage or for disposal.

Remove bolts (5) and (7) and the washers. Remove flange (4) and elbow (6).
Remove bolts (3) and the washers.
Remove clamp assembly (8) and elbow (9).
Remove nuts (1), the washers, and the bolts from expansion tank (2).
Attach a suitable lifting device onto Tooling (A). The weight of expansion tank (2) is approximately 69 kg (152 lb).

Remove bolts (14) and the washers from expansion tank (2). Reposition elbow (15).
Remove clamp assembly (10) and reposition tube assembly (11).
Remove bolts (12) and reposition tube assembly (13).

Remove clamp assembly (17) and reposition hose (18).
Remove bolts (16) and the washers from expansion tank (2).
Remove bolts (19) and the washers. Remove expansion tank (2). Installation Procedure

Attach a suitable lifting device onto Tooling (A). The weight of expansion tank (2) is approximately 69 kg (152 lb).
Install bolts (19) and the washers from the regulator housing to expansion tank (2).
Position expansion tank (2) and install bolts (16) and the washers .
Connect hose (18) and install clamp assembly (17).

Position tube assembly (13) and install bolts (12) and the washers.
Position tube assembly (11) and install clamp assembly (10).
Position elbow (15) and install bolts (14) and the washers to expansion tank (2).

Install the bolts, the washers, and nuts (1) to expansion tank (2).
Position hose (9) and install clamp assembly (8).
Install the washers and bolts (3).
Position elbow (6) and flange (4). Install the washers and bolts (7) and (5).
Fill the expansion tank to the correct level. For the proper coolant to use, refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the engine that is being serviced.
