Location of the BMCT Grid 2 current sensor (5) BMCT Grid 2 current sensor
At the rear compartment, disconnect and remove the 3000 amp DCCT current sensor from the mount and the bus bar. Mark the current sensor in a way that will allow the sensor to be identified as the original DCCT current sensor. A small section of the DC bus bar that passes through the current sensor will have to be disconnected to remove the current sensor.
Mount the unmarked current sensor in the location where the DCCT current is normally located. Install the DC bus bar section that was removed back in the original position. Tighten the bus bar bolts to the proper torque. Connect the harness connector securely on the current sensor.
At the front side compartment, mount the marked current sensor in the location where the current sensor that was removed is normally located. Install the DC bus bar section that was removed back in the original position. Tighten the bus bar bolts to the proper torque. Connect and torque the motor or Generator cables that were disconnected.
Ensure that all of the connectors are connected and the current sensors are properly installed.
Install the compartment cover back on the Generator and motor cable compartment. Install the compartment cover on the rear high voltage compartment that contains the DCCT current sensor. The covers for all of the high voltage compartments must be installed before the Engine can be started in the next test step.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position. Turn the key start switch to the ON position. Start the Engine.
Safely operate the machine in order to determine if the MID 170, CID 3048 FMI 03 diagnostic code is active.Expected Result:The MID 170, CID 3048 FMI 03 diagnostic code is no longer active. A diagnostic code has been activated for the current sensor that was switched with the original DCCT current sensor. Results:
YES - A Generator or traction motor phase current sensor diagnostic code has activated.Repair: The original marked DCCT current sensor has failed. The marked current sensor has caused an active diagnostic code when connected to the two separate circuits.Turn the key start switch and the battery disconnect to the OFF position. Perform the "Power Train Electrical System Service
