All 148-2048 and 126-0065 head gaskets need to be removed from Parts Stock for replacement with a new head gasket.
Action Required
Remove all 148-2048 and 126-0065 individual head gaskets from Parts Stock.The new individual head gasket, part number 162-0486, replaces previous gaskets.
Gasket kit part numbers: 161-3984, 161-6594, 155-4068, 156-0112, 156-0943, 156-0944, 156-0945, 156-0946, 156-0947, 156-0948, 156-7112, and 158-8826 will remain the same, but must be reworked. The old head gasket, 148-2048 or 126-0065, in these kits must be removed and replaced with the new head gasket 162-0486.
TEPS/MEPS dealers are reimbursed for recalled Parts Stock by returning the affected Parts Stock to their administering Caterpillar dealer for replacement.
Service Claim Allowances
Submit one claim for all 148-2048 and 126-0065 head gaskets removed from Parts Stock, Caterpillar will also cover 100% parts at Dealer Net and 0.5 hours labor per gasket kit reworked.
US and Canadian Dealers Only - When submitting a Parts Stock claim use 99Z00007 in the Product Identification Number Field.
Parts Disposition
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
