Install seals (11) and (12) in head (3). The lip of seal (11) must be toward seal (12) .
Use Tooling (A) to install seal (10) in head (3). Install seal (10) with the lip toward the outside.
Position the cylinder and the rod on Tooling (C) .

Install head (3) on cylinder (1) with two original bolts (2) .
Put clean hydraulic oil on the seals in head (3). Install Tooling (B) on the end of the rod. Use Tooling (C) in order to push the cylinder and the head onto the rod.
Remove bolts (2) and use Tooling (C) in order to pull the cylinder from the head and rod.

Install the backup ring and O-ring seal (9) in the groove on head (3). The O-ring seal must be toward the cylinder when the seal is installed.

Note: Suppose that there is a centerline from the center of the insert to the center of piston (5). The flat sides of inserts (8) should be parallel to that centerline.
Use Tooling (D) in order to install inserts (9) in one side of piston (8) .

Install plungers (13) into the bores of the inserts. Perform the installation from the side opposite of the installation for inserts (8) .
Use Tooling (D) and install the remainder of inserts (8) in order to hold plungers (13) in position.

Install the rubber ring in the groove of the piston. If necessary, use Tooling (E) in order to make seal (12) larger for installation. Install seal (12) over the rubber ring on the piston.
Install ring (6) on the piston.

Install washer (4), piston (5), and washer (15) .

Put clean hydraulic oil on the threads and install nut (16) on the end of the rod.

Use Tooling (F) and tighten nut (16) to a torque of 3400 340 N m (2500 250 lb ft).

Put clean hydraulic oil on the seals of the piston and head. Use Tooling (C) in order to push the cylinder into position on the rod and on the head.

Install bolts (2) and tighten the bolts evenly in order to pull the head completely into the cylinder.Note: The rod must be fully extended when bolts (2) are tightened for correct alignment of the cylinder and the head.
Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 620 80 N m (460 60 lb ft).End By: Install the bulldozer lift cylinders.
