Always inspect/clean the radiator fins with the engine stopped. Failure to do so could result in personal injury caused by moving fan blades.
Pressure air can cause personal injury. When pressure air is used for cleaning, wear a protective face shield, protective clothing, and protective shoes.
* Inspect the radiator fins for debris. Clean the radiator fins with solvent, a brush and a cloth.* Compressed air or pressurized water may be used in order to clean debris from the radiator fins. Direct the stream of air or stream of water in line with the radiator fins. Perform this procedure behind the radiator core in order to force debris out of the radiator fins. The maximum air pressure for cleaning purposes must be below 205 kPa (30 psi). The maximum water pressure for cleaning purposes must be below 275 kPa (40 psi).* If necessary, use a light bulb behind the radiator fins in order to determine if the radiator fins are completely clean.Refer to Special Publication, SEBU0518, "Know Your Cooling System" for more information on cleaning the radiator fins.
