Remove the cylinder head. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cylinder Head - Remove".
Remove the engine oil pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pump - Remove".
Remove the piston cooling jets. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Cooling Jets - Remove and Install".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Use Tooling (A) in order to remove the liner wear ridge from the inner surface of the cylinder liner.
Position the pistons that are being removed at the bottom center position.

Note: Do not reuse bolts (1) . Dispose of old bolts (1) and use new bolts (1) for the installation procedure.
Remove bolts (1) from the connecting rod.

Note: The caps and rods must stay together as a pair. Do not stamp the new connecting rod. For storage of the connecting rods and caps, tighten the bolts to 20 N m (15 lb ft).
Remove connecting rod caps (2) and the connecting rod bearings.
Push the pistons and the connecting rods through the top of the cylinder block.
