2     8T-7087     Grommet    The rework procedure is adaptable to the machines LAJ1-239.The rework procedure is effective with the machines LAJ240-UP.Use the following procedure to weld the pipe to the existing handrail assembly:

Front viewModified handrail assembly (W1) 3.0 mm (0.12 inch) fillet weld.
Position the pipe (2) to the existing handrail assembly (1) to determine the area where the pipe is to be welded.
Grind off the paint in the identified area to prepare surface for welding the pipe (2) to the handrail assembly (1) .
Position the pipe and weld the pipe (2) all around in both the contact locations. Refer to Illustration 2 for welding dimensions.
Grind the welds flush and remove any sharp edges. Paint as required.
Assemble the required hardware (3) to secure the pipe (2) to the adjoining handrail assembly (4). Use the parts that are listed in Table 2.
