To Disable 4th Gear
Illustration 1 (To Disable 4th Gear)At the transmission, locate the main harness where it connects to the internal transmission harness. Modifications will be made to the main harness near this connection point. Disconnect the main harness from the transmission. The connector is an MS style.
Two diodes are required for this procedure. The 1V-9633 Diode Assembly (contains two diodes) or the 2V-9473 Diode Assembly (contains four diodes) can be used.
1. In the main harness near the connector, cut wire 754-BU (connector contact G) and wire 755-OR (connector contact I).2. Install a diode in series with each wire. Connect the cathodes of both diodes to connector contact I. See Illustration 1.3. Solder all connections and protect the areas with 1P-810 Tape.This procedure causes the 3rd speed solenoid to be activated whenever the autoshift control tries to energize either the 3rd or 4th speed solenoid. The diodes prevent unwanted "harness shorted" faults from being logged.

Do not disable 3rd gear without also disabling 4th gear. Damage to the power train can result in certain operating conditions.
