The existing 447-3586 Boom needs to be reworked on the products listed below. The existing 447-3586 Boom can fail during early hour operation. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Cat dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
If you are no longer the owner of this product(s), please contact your local Cat dealer so that our records can be updated. Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 30Jun2017 when scheduling this service.

Rework Procedure
Ensure that all safety information, warnings, and instructions are read and understood before any operation or any maintenance procedures are performed.
Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual "Safety Section".
Refer to the Service Manual if/as necessary.
1. Park the machine on a hard level surface, and ground the bucket/tool. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual.
2. Stop the engine and lock the hydraulic lockout control. Ensure that all residual pressure is removed. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "System Pressure Release", for additional information.
3. Check the booms part number.
- If the boom part number is not 447-3586, then NO additional action is required.
- If the boom part number is 447-3586, then proceed with the following Rework Procedure.
4. Grind the weld beads at four areas on both sides, smoothly with base metal. Refer to Image1.3.1.
Note: If it was already ground, no additional action required.
Refer to REHS1841, Special Instruction, "General Welding Procedures", and SEBD0512, Reuse And Salvage Guidelines, "Caterpillar Service Welding Guide", before proceeding through the next steps.
