3116 Engine Shown1. Remove bolts (1), the locks, exhaust manifold (2) and the gaskets from the cylinder head assembly.2. If necessary, remove the four turbocharger mounting studs from the exhaust manifold. The following steps are for the installation of the exhaust manifold.3. If the four turbocharger mounting studs were removed from the exhaust manifold, install them, and tighten them to a torque of 35 5 N m (26 4 lb ft).4. Check the condition of the exhaust manifold gaskets. If the gaskets are damaged, use new parts for replacement.5. Apply 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of the bolts that hold the exhaust manifold in position.

Typical Example (6 Cylinder Shown)6. Put the gaskets and the exhaust manifold in position on the cylinder head assembly. Install the locks and bolts that hold it. Tighten the bolts in the numerical sequence shown in illustration C34716P1 or C34715P1 as follows: a. Tighten the bolts in numerical sequence to an initial torque of 4 1 N m (3 1 lb ft).b. Tighten the bolts in numerical sequence to a final torque of 45 5 N m (33 4 lb ft).c. Bend the lock tab over the flat of each bolt head. If necessary, loosen or tighten the bolt to align the flat of the bolt head with the lock tab.End By:a. install turbocharger
