When tests are made in a closed area, activate the brakes and use blocks to prevent the machine from movement during the tests. Let only approved personnel on the machine. Keep other personnel off the machine and in view of the operator.
All test and adjustments must be made with the oil in the power train hydraulic system at normal temperature for operation. Be sure the linkage adjustments are correct before the tests are made.
Do not operate the machine with the universal joint removed. The force of hydraulic pressure on the output shaft will cause the shaft to move out of the torque converter. The result is a rapid loss of hydraulic oil.
Do not make any adjustments to the control linkage with the engine running.
Adjustment Of The Transmission Control Linkage
1. Disconnect rod assembly (1) from direction lever (2).
LEFT SIDE OF TRANSMISSION
1. Rod assembly. 2. Direction lever.2. Push direction lever (2) down as far as possible. This pushes direction selector spool (5) in against stop (6) and puts the spool in FORWARD position.
SELECTOR AND PRESSURE CONTROL VALVE
3. Speed selector spool. 4. Stop. 5. Direction selector spool. 6. Stop.3. Disconnect rod assembly (7) from speed lever (8).4. Push speed lever (8) down as far as possible. This pulls speed selector spool (3) out against stop (4) and puts the spool in NEUTRAL position.
RIGHT SIDE OF TRANSMISSION
7. Rod assembly. 8. Speed lever.5. Move the transmission lock lever to the ON position (pushed down). Transmission selector lever (9) will move to the FORWARD NEUTRAL position of shift guide (10), as shown.
TRANSMISSION SELECTOR LEVER ON THE FORWARD SIDE OF THE NEUTRAL OPENING
9. Transmission selector lever. 10. Shift guide.6. Make adjustments, as needed, to the lengths of rods assemblies (1) and (7).7. Connect rod assembly (1) to direction lever (2) and rod assembly (7) to speed lever (8). Tighten all
