Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the left engine guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Guards" for the correct procedure to remove the engine guards.

Disconnect wires (1) from the alternator and remove all necessary cable straps.

Loosen bolt (2) (not shown) and bolt (4). Remove V-belts (5) from the alternator pulley.
Remove bolts (2) and (4) and remove alternator (3) from the bracket.Installation Procedure

Place alternator (3) in position on the bracket. Install bolt (2) (not shown) and bolt (4) .Note: Do not tighten bolts (2) and (4) at this time.
Place V-belts (5) in position on the alternator pulley.
Adjust the V-belt tension.Note: Check the V-belt tension. Use a Burroughs BT-33-72C gauge. The correct tension for a new V-belt is 534 22 N (120 5 lb). The correct tension for a used V-belt is 400 44 N (90 10 lb). The tension of a used V-belt is over 30 minutes of operation at rated speed.
Tighten bolt (2) (not shown) and bolt (4) .

Connect wires (1) to the alternator and secure wire (1) with cable straps.End By: Install the left engine guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Guards" for the correct procedure to install the engine guards.
