The 371-3480 Cable (USB) is a "Male-A" to "Male-A" cable that allows communication between a computer and the Color Multi-Purpose Display (CMPD) on the above listed machines.The cable is used during the flashing of new software to the CMPD. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS5594, "How to Flash Program the CMPD Module Using the USB Port on Certain Articulated Trucks".In some circumstances dealers have used locally sourced "Male-A" to "Male-A" USB Cables as alternatives to the 371-3480 Cable (USB). Research has found that some alternative "Male-A" to "Male-A" USB cables have caused communication issues between computer and CMPD, resulting in failure to flash the CMPD.Investigation has found that USB 3 cables have additional wiring connectors that may cause communication issues between the computer and CMPD.Investigation has found that USB 2 cables do not have issues with communication with the CMPD.Solution
When sourcing alternative "Male-A" to "Male-A" USB cables as alternatives to the 371-3480 Cable (USB), use only USB 2 cables.
