Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.
Raise the hood.

Remove shield assembly (1) .

Disconnect sensor assembly (3) and tube assembly (4) from diesel oxidation catalyst (2). Remove clamp (5) from the inlet of diesel oxidation catalyst (2) .Note: Make orientation marks on clamp (5) for assembly purposes.

Note: Mark orientation (A) with a line on clamp (6) for assembly purposes.
Remove clamp (6) from diesel oxidation catalyst (2) .

Attach a suitable lifting device to diesel oxidation catalyst (2). The weight of diesel oxidation catalyst (2) is approximately 21 kg (46 lb). Disconnect strap (7) and remove diesel oxidation catalyst (2) .
Discard clamp assembly (5) .Installation Procedure
Install diesel oxidation catalyst (2) in the reverse order of removal.Note: Do not use power tools when tighten components.
Install new clamp assembly (1). Tighten clamp assembly (1) to a torque of 50 1 N m (37 1 lb ft). Do not use power tools in order to tighten clamp assembly (1) .

Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of strap (7) to Dimension (X). Dimension (X) is 25 mm (1.0 inch) above the trunnion. Tighten strap (7) to a torque of 17 2 N m (146 13 lb in).

Clamp assembly (5) is to be in the center of the joint. Dimensions (X) and (Y) are to be equal within 2.0 mm ( 0.08 inch) at any X-Section around the circumference.
Center new clamp assembly (5) according the marks made in Step 3 of the removal procedure. Reference Illustration 6 for further instruction. Tighten clamp (5) to a torque of 35 2 N m (26 1 lb ft).
Tighten temperature sensor (3) to a torque of 45 5 N m (33 4 lb ft).
