Put a mark through the incorrect PIN (1AG145) and make a reference to the correct effective PIN, which is 1AG248.--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------Effective with 225B Excavators 2ZD380, 3YD1 and 229 Excavators 1GF328, 1AG248; nonmetallic fiber bearings (9C4443) are used in place of the steel bearings (7V8106) where the boom foot connects to the upper frame. The fiber bearing minimizes the possibility of galling and does NOT need any grease.
Excavators with the new bearings do not have a grease fitting at the boom foot pivot. A threaded plug is installed in the hole used for the fitting. Do NOT replace this plug with a grease fitting. Any grease in the fiber bearing will cause shorter bearing life because the grease will attract dirt into the bearing.
The 225B Excavators, 2ZD326-2ZD379, and 229 Excavators, 1GF318-1GF327, can have either type of bearings. If plugs are used, the bearings are the fiber type.If the plug has been removed in the field and replaced with a grease fitting, be sure that the plug is reinstalled.
