Ripper Diverter Valve
(1) Solenoid valve
(2) Valve spool
(3) Springs
(4) Pressure tap
(5) Passage for ripper LOWER
(6) Passage for ripper LOWER and TIP IN supply
(7) Passage for ripper TIP IN
(8) Passage for ripper RAISE
(9) Passage for ripper RAISE and TIP OUT supply
(10) Passage for ripper TIP OUT The ripper diverter valve is optional and the valve is required on any tractor with a ripper. The valve is mounted on the rear of the machine. The ripper diverter valve allows one ripper control valve to control the following functions of the ripper: RAISE and LOWER and TIP IN and TIP OUT.The ripper control lever has a switch in the lever grip under the index finger. The operator can select any of the four functions by using the ripper control lever. The trigger switch controls a solenoid on the ripper diverter valve. The solenoid sends pilot oil to one end of valve spool (2) in order to force the spool against springs (3). Pilot oil is the same oil that is used in the charging circuit for the steering pump and the steering pilot valve. When the control lever is moved without depressing the switch, the ripper will raise or the ripper will lower. When the control lever is moved and the switch is depressed, the ripper will tip outward or the ripper will tip inward. When the ripper control lever is moved to the RAISE position without depressing the switch, the implement oil is directed to passage (9). When spool (2) moves, the oil flows to passage (8), as shown above. The oil flows to the rod ends of the ripper cylinders. Return oil from the ripper cylinders enters the diverter valve through passage (5) and the oil is directed to passage (6). The oil then flows back to the ripper control valve. The reverse is true for ripper LOWER.Depressing the switch energizes solenoid valve (1) which directs steering charge pressure oil to the left end of valve spool (2). The oil shifts valve spool (2) to the right against springs (3). The spool closes passages (5) and (8) for ripper RAISE and LOWER. The spool opens passages (7) and (10) for ripper TIP IN and TIP OUT. Oil flows through the passages to the supply and the return ports (6) and (9).When the ripper control lever is moved to the TIP OUT position and the switch is depressed, implement oil flows to passage (9). When spool (2) is shifted to the right, the oil is directed to passage (10). The oil flows to the rod ends of the ripper tip cylinders. Return oil from the ripper tip cylinders enters the diverter valve through passage (7) and the oil is directed to passage (6). The oil flows back to the ripper control valve. The reverse is true for ripper TIP IN.
