Use a thickness feeler gauge in order to measure the clearance between the boom and the stick at the pin bores.
The total clearance of dimension (a) plus dimension (b) must not be more than 0.8 mm (0.03 inch).
If the total clearance is less than 0.8 mm (0.03 inch), the addition of shims between the boom and the stick will not be required. Proceed to Step 23.
If the total clearance is more than 0.8 mm (0.03 inch), add the correct thickness of shims in order to obtain the required clearance. Proceed to Step 17.
Use the following table to determine the correct shims.

If shims are required, install shims between the boom and the stick on the opposite side of the retaining bolt (9).
Use a hammer and a punch in order to partially remove pin assembly (10) from the right side of the boom pin joint.
Install the correct shims.
Use a hammer and a punch in order to drive pin assembly (10) into boom (2) and into stick (1) .
Install the washers and retaining bolt (9) into the pin.
Tighten retaining bolt (9) to a torque of 460 60 N m (340 45 lb ft).
Remove the plugs from the ends of hose assemblies (7) and hose assemblies (11). Oil will drain from the hose assemblies. Drain the oil into a suitable container for storage or disposal.
Replace the O-ring seals in the ends of the hose assemblies.
Connect hose assemblies (11) to mounting blocks (12) .
Connect hose assemblies (7) to tube assemblies (8) .
Connect electrical connection (6) for the working lights on the stick.

Apply 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease on the outside diameter of stick cylinder support pin (4) .
The weight of stick cylinder (3) is approximately 325 kg (720 lb).
Start the engine. Extend the rod end of stick cylinder (3) into the pin joint of the stick. Align the pin bore of the stick cylinder with the pin bores of the stick.
Temporarily install pin assembly (4) in the pin joint.
Temporarily install pin retaining bolt (5) and the washers that secure pin assembly (4) in position.
Measure the total lateral clearance between stick cylinder (3) and stick (1) .
The total clearance of dimension (a) plus dimension (b) cannot be more than 1.0 mm (0.04 inch)
