Ensure that engine oil pan (5) is clean and free from damage. Clean isolating screws (6) and isolating screws (7). Inspect the isolating screws for deterioration or damage. If necessary, replace the isolating screws. Ensure that the gasket surface of the isolating frame is clean. Note: The isolating screws must be replaced as a complete set in order to ensure even clamping of the engine oil pan.
Position a new gasket (4) onto the engine oil pan (5).
Illustration 2 g01340724
(Z) Position of short isolating screws.
Install isolating screws (5) and isolating screws (6) to the engine oil pan. Do not install the isolating screws to the large holes at Positions (X) in the engine oil pan. Note: The isolating screws are held captive by the gasket.
Install the assembly of the engine oil pan to the isolating frame. Tighten the isolating screws to a torque of 22 N m (16 lb ft). Tighten the isolating screws in the sequence that is shown in Illustration 2.
Illustration 3 g01340725
Install the four remaining isolating screws. Tighten the isolating screws to a torque of 22 N m (16 lb ft). Tighten the isolating screws in the sequence that is shown in Illustration 3.
Illustration 4 g01617554
Engines that are keel cooled and sea water cooled install Tooling (B) to the engine mountings.
Use a suitable hoist to lower the front of the engine onto the base frame. Remove Tooling (B) from the engine mountings. Install bolts (8). Tighten bolts to a torque of 190 N m (140 lb ft). Engines with a radiator cooled systems. Tighten nuts and bolts for the engine mounting and the generator mounting to a torque of 190 N m (140 lb ft).
Illustration 5 g01340605
Typical example
If necessary, follow Step 8.a through Step 8.c in order to install the assembly of the dipstick tube.
Install a new seal (3) to tube assembly (2).
Apply Tooling (A) to nut (1). Install the tube assembly to the engine oil pan.
Tighten the nut (1) to a torque of 18 N m (13 lb ft). Install the dipstick (not shown). Note: Ensure that the orientation of the tube assembly is correct.
Fill the engine oil pan to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Oil Filter Change" for the procedure.
