START BY:a. remove drive shaft (rear)b. connection of steering frame lock link
Make sure machine is on a hard, level surface. Block the front tires to prevent movement of the machine.
1. Extend the lift arms, and install tooling (A) as shown. 2. Disconnect brake line (1) on top of the rear axle housing. 3. Remove two bolts that hold retainer (3). Temporarily put two larger diameter flat washers (2) in position as shown. The washers must extend beyond the outside diameter of retainer (3) to prevent the front support from sliding off while removing the axle housing.4. Remove eight bolts and nuts (4) that fasten the rear supports to the frame. 5. Put a suitable floor jack under the rear support to prevent the axle housing from rotating during removal.6. Fasten a hoist, and raise the rear of the machine until there is enough clearance to roll the axle from under the machine. The weight of the rear of the machine without the axle housing is 3409 kg (7500 lb.). 7. After the rear axle is removed, lower the machine onto tooling (B). 8. Drain the oil from the axle housing.9. Put the axle housing and supports on tooling (C). The weight of the axle housing and supports is 954 kg (2100 lb.). 10. Remove yoke (5). Remove bolts (6) and retainer (3). Remove the lip seal from the retainer. 11. Fasten two nylon straps and a hoist to the front support. Remove front support (7). The weight is 27 kg (60 lb.). 12. Remove the two lip seals from support (7). Remove spiral ring (8) and bearing (9). 13. Rotate the axle housing so that rear support (10) is up.14. Remove cover (11) and the thrust washer under it. 15. Remove bolts (12) and plate (13). 16. Install two 1/2"-13 NC forged eyebolts, and fasten a hoist to the rear support. Remove rear support (10) and thrust washer (14). The weight is 27 kg (60 lb.). 17. Remove seal (15) and bearing (16). 18. Remove fitting (17), bolts (18) and trunnion (19).Install Axle Housing And Supports (Rear Oscillating)
1. Check the condition of the seal on trunnion (1). Replace it if necessary. Install trunnion (1) and bolts (2). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 270 25 N m (200 18 lb.ft.). Install bolt (3) that holds the brake line tee to the trunnion. 2. Install bearing (4) and seal ring (5) in rear support (6). 3. Install two 1/2"-13 NC forged eyebolts, and fasten a hoist to the rear support. Lubricate the bearing and seal ring with 5P0960 Multipurpose Grease. Install rear support (6) and thrust washer (7). 4. Install plate (8). Install bolts (9), and tighten them to a torque of 135 15 N m (100 11 lb.ft.). Lubricate another thrust washer (7) with grease, and install it on plate (8). 5. Install cover (10) and bolts (11). Tighten bolts (11) to a torque of 135 15 N m (100 11
