Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the secondary fuel filter. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System Secondary Filter - Replace".
Pressure may remain in the secondary fuel filter after the engine is shutdown.Wait at least five minutes for residual pressure to subside before you remove the secondary fuel filter.Failure to wait for the pressure to subside can result in personal injury.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Park the machine on a hard, level surface. Lower the scraper bowl to the ground and engage the parking brake. Chock the wheels in order to prevent the machine from moving.Note: Put identification marks on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses and tubes. This helps prevent fluid loss and contamination of the fuel system.

Disconnect fuel inlet (1) and disconnect fuel outlet (3). Disconnect electrical connection (2) .

Remove two bolts (4). Remove filter base (5) from the machine.

Remove sensor (7) from filter base (5) .
Remove two bolts (9). Remove priming pump (6) from filter base (5) .
Remove fittings (8) from filter base (5) .Installation Procedure
Note: Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets, and the seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

Install fittings (8) to filter base (5) .
Install priming pump (6) to filter base (5). Install two bolts (9) .
Install sensor (7) to filter base (5) .

Install filter base (5) to the machine. Install two bolts (4) .

Connect electrical connection (2). Connect fuel outlet (3) and connect fuel inlet (1) .End By: Install the secondary fuel filter. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System Secondary Filter - Replace".
