START BY:a. remove air compressor 1. Fasten a hoist to accessory drive (1) with tooling (A).2. Remove the bolts that hold accessory drive (1), and remove it from the flywheel housing. The weight of accessory drive (1) is 93 kg (205 lb.).3. If necessary, make a replacement of dowels (2). Make sure they extend 6.0 0.5 mm (.24 .02 in.) above the surface of the flywheel housing.4. Fasten a hoist to accessory drive (1) with tooling (A). Put the gasket and accessory drive (1) in position on dowels (2).5. Make sure the center gear in accessory drive (1) is engaged correctly with the idler gear on the rear of the engine. START BY:a. remove accessory drive (rear) 1. Remove the nuts, and remove covers (1) from the housing assembly. 2. Use two 3/8"-16 NC forcing screws to remove adapter assemblies (2) from the housing assembly. 3. Remove bearing (3) and O-ring seals (4) and (5) from each adapter assembly (2). 4. Remove thrust washers (6) from the shaft assemblies. 5. Remove the bolts, and remove shaft assemblies (7) from the gears. 6. Remove gear (8) and gears (9) from the housing assembly. 7. Remove the remainder of thrust washers (6) from the housing assembly. 8. Remove bearings (7) from the housing assembly.Assemble Accessory Drive (Rear)
1. Make an alignment of the oil hole in the bearings with the oil passages in the housing assembly, and use tool group (A) to install the bearings until the they are 1.0 0.5 mm (.04 .02 in.) below the surface of the housing assembly. The inside diameter of the bearings must be 63.50 0.038 mm (2.500 .0015 in.) after assembly. 2. If necessary, make a replacement of dowels (1) in the housing assembly. Make sure the dowels extend 3.5 0.5 mm (.14 .02 in.) above the surface of the housing assembly. 3. Install three thrust washers (2) on the dowels in the housing assembly. The helical cut of gear (4) is left hand, and the helical cut of gears (3) is right hand.4. Put gear (4) and gears (3) in position in the housing assembly as shown. 5. Put shaft assemblies (5) in position in the gears, and install the bolts to hold the shaft assemblies and gears in position. 6. Install thrust washers (2) on the shaft assemblies. 7. Use tool group (A) to install bearings (6) in each adapter assembly (7). Install the bearings until they are 1.0 0.5 mm (.04 .02 in.) below the surface of adapter assemblies (7). The inside diameter of the bearings must be 63.50 0.038 mm (2.500 .0015 in.) after assembly.8. Install O-ring seals (8) and (9) on the adapter assemblies and put clean engine oil on the seals.
