Brake accumulator purge solenoid circuit
This diagnostic code indicates the "Chassis" ECM detects the "Brake Accumulator Purge" solenoid current is below normal. The following can cause this code:
Open energize circuit
Open return circuit
Failed solenoid
Failed ECMSystem Response:
A "Level 1 Warning" occursThe resistance of the solenoid coil should be 27 1.4 ohms at 20 °C (68.0 °F).Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created codes and clear these created codes after the original diagnostic code has been corrected.Test Step 1. CHECK THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE
Turn off the key switch and the disconnect switch.
Inspect the harness.Clean the harness connector contacts.Inspect the harness connector contacts for corrosion or damage.Inspect the wire insulation for damage caused by heat, corrosion, or chafing.
Perform a 45 N (10 lb) pull test on each circuit wire.
Reconnect all harness connectors.Verify that the connectors are fully seated and the clips are fastened.
Check for intermittent problems. Using Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat® ET), perform a wiggle test on the harness.
Turn on the disconnect switch and the key switch.
Operate the machine.
Check the CID 2250 FMI 05 status.Expected Result:CID 2250 FMI 05 is not active.Results:
OK - CID 2250 FMI 05 is not active.Repair: The initial diagnostic code was probably caused by a poor connection at one of the connectors that was checked.Resume normal operation.STOP
NOT OK - CID 2250 FMI 05 is active. Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE SOLENOID
Disconnect the harness from the solenoid.
At the harness connector for the solenoid, place a jumper wire from contact 1 (wire U771-PK(Pink)) to contact 2 (wire H868-WH(White)).
Turn on the disconnect switch and the key switch.
Check diagnostic code CID 2250 FMI 05.Expected Result:CID 2250 FMI 05 changes to CID 2250 FMI 06.Results:
OK - CID 2250 FMI 05 changes to CID 2250 FMI 06. The solenoid has failed.Repair: Replace the solenoid.Verify that the new solenoid corrects the problem.STOP
NOT OK - CID 2250 FMI 05 does not change to CID 2250 FMI 06. Proceed to Test Step 3.Test Step 3. CHECK FOR AN OPENThe jumper wire that was installed in the previous test step remains in place.
Turn off the key switch and the disconnect switch.
Disconnect the J1 and J2 harness connectors from the ECM.
Disconnect the harness from the brake accumulator purge solenoid.
At the harness connector for the solenoid, place a jumper wire from contact 2 (wire H868-WH(White)) to contact 1 (wire U771-PK(Pink)).
At the J1 and J2 harness connectors for the ECM, measure the resistance from contact J1-12 (wire U771-PK(Pink)) to contact J2-8 (wire H868-WH(White)).Expected Result:The resistance is less than 5.0 ohms. Results:
OK - The resistance is less than 5.0 ohms. Proceed to Test Step 4.
NOT OK - The resistance is greater than 5.0 ohms. The harness is open.Repair: The resistance indicates the following:
Resistance greater than 5000 ohms indicates that a wire is not connected or a wire is open.
Resistance greater than 5.0 ohms but less than 5000 ohms indicates a connection point that is not open, but the connection
