Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant below the level of the tank into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

Remove panel (1) .

Disconnect hose assembly (2) and tube assembly (3) .

Attach a suitable lifting device to handrail (4). The weight of handrail (4) is approximately 31 kg (68 lb). Remove handrail (4) .

Attach a suitable lifting device and Tooling (A) to expansion tank (6). The weight of expansion tank (6) is approximately 155 kg (342 lb).
Remove bolts (5) and remove expansion tank (6) .Installation Procedure

Attach a suitable lifting device and Tooling (A) to expansion tank (6). The weight of expansion tank (6) is approximately 155 kg (342 lb).
Position expansion tank (6) and install bolts (5). Remove Tooling (A) and remove the suitable lifting device.

Attach a suitable lifting device to handrail (4). The weight of handrail (4) is approximately 31 kg (68 lb). Install handrail (4) .

Connect hose assembly (2) and tube assembly (3) .

Install panel (1) .
Fill the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" for the capacity of the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Extended Life Coolant - Change" for the proper filling procedure.
