Problem: A puddle of grease is near the pump group.
Probable Cause
There is excessive air pressure to the pump. The air regulator has failed.
There is a leak in one of the connections in the supply lines at the pump.Problem: The air pump does not run.
Probable Cause
Failed electrical systemProblem: No lubricant at the bearing.
Probable Cause
Broken lube line or restricted lube line.
Lubricant reservoir is empty.
The lubricant injector is malfunctioning.
The lubricant pump is malfunctioning.Problem: The pump runs excessively.
Probable Cause
The tube for the pump malfunctioned.
A system component is leaking.
There is bypassing at the injector.Problem: The pump speeds up or runs erratically.
Probable Cause
There is a low level of grease.
Lubricant reservoir is empty.
The follower plate is stuck and separated from the grease.
The pump piston is worn.
The check valves are worn.Problem: The pump runs, but the output is low.
Probable Cause
The motor speed control is set too low.
There is a faulty inlet or a discharge check valve in the pump.General Troubleshooting For The Automatic Lubrication System
Table 1
Symptom Possible Cause Corrective Action
The pump does not run. No electric power. Check the electric circuit.
The solenoid is worn or the solenoid is damaged. Replace the solenoid valve.
The pump operates, but none of the injectors operate. Low pressure in the grease system. Ensure adequate air pressure to the pump.
Leak in the grease supply line. Repair the leak.
High pressure in the grease system. The injector is worn or the injector is damaged. Replace the injector.
The vent valve is stuck or blocked open. Disassemble the vent valve. Clean the vent valve. Reassemble the vent valve.
The lubricant reservoir is empty. Fill the lubricant reservoir.
There is air in the supply line of the system. Purge the air from the pump, the supply line, and the injectors.
The pump operates normally, but not all the injectors operate. The system is not venting completely. Check system pressure between the lube cycles and ensure that the system vents to a pressure that is low enough for all the injectors to properly cycle.
Allow more time between lube events for venting.
Lubricant viscosity is too high for the ambient temperature. Change the lubricant to a lighter grade for colder temperatures.
The bearings are not lubricated enough. Injectors are out of adjustment. Adjust the individual injectors(1).
High pressure in the grease system. Increase the lube cycle frequency.(1)
The bearings are lubricated too much. The lube system is cycling too often. Decrease the lube cycle frequency(1).
(1) Refer to the OMM for instructions on adjustment.
