Setting Pinion Bearing Preload
For 2V4349,2V4355:1. Install pinion shaft (11) in housing (14) complete with bearings (7) and (8). Check to see that each cup face is fully seated against the housing shoulder.2. Tighten first locknut (9) tight and loosen about 1/8 turn.3. Install lock (13) and second locknut (12). Tighten second locknut (12) against lock and first locknut to a minimum torque of 130 N m (95 lb ft), plus the amount needed to align the lock tang with the next slot in locknut (12).4. Check pinion shaft (11) to be sure there is zero end clearance.5. Install seal (10) with the lip toward the bearings.6. With locknut (12), lock (13) and locknut (9) installed, the torque
